 Jumbo Ozaki-Gap Rating 5/10 Masashi Ozaki was born on 24th Januray 1947 in Tokushima, Japan.He is a proffessional golfer. He is often known as Jumbo Ozaki on account of his height and length off the tee. He is the most successful player of all time on the Japan Golf Tour, having topped the money list twelve times and won ninety four tournaments. He built "AON Age" with his rivals Isoa Aoki and Tsuneyuki Nakajima. However, his performances outside Japan have generally been disappointing, with just two wins in minor tournaments, and they have been exceeded by those of some of his compatriots including Isao Aoki and Shigeki Maruyama. He is reluctant to attempt to speak English. Ozaki finished 8th at The Msters in 1973 (winner Tommy Aaron). He finished 6th at the US Open in 1989 (winner Curtis Strange). He competed at The Masters eighteen times, but beat par only in 1995. In the third round he played with 19-year-old amateur Tiger Woods. Ozaki was a professional baseball pitcher from 1965 to 1967, but he turned to professional golf at the age of 23 and won the Japan Pro Golf Championship the following year. Ozaki's brothers Tateo and Naomichi ("Joe") are also professional golfers. Now in his late fifties, he still plays regularly on the Japan Golf Tour. |
